may as well stop in Miami...

since i had to stop in Miami for my Jamaica trip i decided to take a couple of extra days in Miami since i had never been before. i also had no desire to ever go to Miami so to be honest i wasnt expecting much. however, i was pleasently surprised. but probably not enough to go back...
pretty much all i did was walk around the art deco district, shop and lay out by the pool.

the view from my balcony

omg, this was the most comfy bed i have EVER slept in. everything was amazing: the mattress, pillow, comforter-like sleeping on a cloud. i think. ive never actually slept on a cloud before...

this was probably my favorite thing in Miami: A-1-A! and for all of you who grew up with Vanilla Ice then you will know that A-1-A=BEACH FRONT AVENUE! seriously, i never knew why he would say A-1-A, now i know! ICE ICE BABY

Miami is famous for their art deco buildings. they are pretty cool. i enjoyed walking around looking at the different styles and colors more than the shopping, which wasnt good at all. here are a couple of my favorite buildings. the multi-colored one was actually turned into a chinese restaurant.

this is a view of South Beach from my hotel rooftop pool.

Jamaica- No Problem, Mon!

my friend told me about a travel auction website and i checked it out. i was playing around and bid on a trip to Jamaica completely convinced someone would out bid me. i was wrong. honestly, Jamaica was not the first place on my list that i wanted to visit in the Caribbean. i did, however, enjoy relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun which is something i have not had time for lately. since i went by myself i also wanted to take a couple of excursions on the island so i could see more than was just at my resort. i really liked the activites i chose to do.

this is a view of the private beach i spent most of my time. i think the most people that joined me at one time was about 7-not too shabby. for some reason most people stayed at the pools. why would you lay by the pool when you can lay on the beach and swim in amazing Caribbean water?

here i am just splashing around, loving the warm water.

soaking up the sun. i literally had a line down my side with the front of me BRIGHT red like a lobster and the back of me pale white. not a good look.

having a Red Stripe(jamaican beer) at sunset while i read an amazing book called The Help.

my delicious Jamaican dinner with Jerk pork, mashed potatoes, bread fruit(yes, fruit that tastes like bread when its fried up!) and some yummy spicy sauce(inside the cucumber). this was sooooo good!

for my fisrt excursion i took a trip to Mystic Mountain. it starts with a lift to the top of the mountain. this is a view of my hotel from my ride up!

i made it to the top!

one thing Jamaica was famous for is the fact they had an Olympic bobsled team. i loved the movie Cool Runnings made in the 90s about the team. needless to say when i heard they had bobsledding i had to do it.

the ride is like a one person rollercoaster and i controlled the breaks! i knew everything would be just fine bc i had bobsled #31, my lucky number! it was so much fun i went back for another ride.

the other thing they had on the mountain was zip lining! another thing i had never tried so i was excited. here i am just hooked into all my gear with one of my guides, Dwayne.

AAAHHHHHH! we had 5 lines to zip down and one vertical drop. the drop was the scariest part and the only time i screamed.

i made it!

for my 2nd excursion i went horseback riding! i hadnt been on a horse in probably 20 years and really wanted to do something different. this was soo amazing. my horse was named Shoes which i thought was perfect bc, well, I LOVE SHOES!

on our way to the final destination we passed through Papillon Cove which was named after the 1973 Steve McQueen movie that was shot here. its BEAUTIFUL!

our final destination! this was a cute litle cove where we took the horses in the water.

HELLO! me and shoes taking a swim.

it was so hard to stay on in the water. Shoes just wanted to go ON TOP of the other horses. also, horses poop A LOT and that includes in the water so most of my time was spent steering him AWAY from taking me through the poo. gross. i made it!
